Arthur Griffith

Arthur Griffith, journalist and politician; was born on 31 usher 1872 in Dublin. Griffith followed his father into the printing trade. He worked with the Irish free and The Nation. Griffith was strongly influenced by Charles Stewart Parnell . His interest in Irish nationalism was reflected in his membership of the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB) and the Gaelic League. The recession of 1896 prompted Griffith to travel to South Africa in golf-club to bring forth employment, where he worked in a diamond mine. He posterior co-established a small risings paper in the Transvaal, where he honed his literary skill.
